Little Tokyo has been the centre of Japanese American life for over one hundred years. This vibrant district of downtown Los Angeles is located in proximity to some of the city’s landmark buildings including Los Angeles City Hall, the Lillian Disney Performing Arts Centre and Union Station.
The Little Tokyo Cultural Resources Study has developed a working definition of cultural preservation as it relates to Little Tokyo. This will serve as a set of guidelines and principles for the City of Los Angeles, and the State of California, as well as other groups and agencies connected with the district, to ensure the preservation of the cultural resources of this integral part of Los Angeles. Peter Andrew Barrett provided heritage consulting services to the project architects: TBA West.
